Why Tumblin' Into Reading?
Tumblin’ Into Reading delivers a personalized and tailored approach to each child’s reading success.
The process begins with an evaluation based on the child’s age and grade. Once the data is analyzed, a learning plan is created and shared with the client. These unique learning plans are implemented using Orton-Gillingham, a highly structured research-based approach that breaks reading and spelling down into smaller skills involving letters and sounds. Orton-Gillingham incorporates explicit, direct, sequential, systematic and multi-sensory instruction to successfully teach all learners.

Each session follows a structured routine that is engaging and impactful.

Meet Meredith
Meredith has been working with children for nearly 15 years. In high school, she was a nanny and a dance teacher. She also had the opportunity to work in the local elementary school her senior year as a student teacher. She followed her passion in college and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education.

Meredith began her teaching career in Indianapolis teaching 2nd grade. Her career brought her to Chicago two years later where she taught 1st grade in Chicago Public Schools. During her time in the classroom, Meredith realized how many students struggle with reading. She spent the summer of 2022 becoming certified in Orton-Gillingham Plus. OG+ is a science based structured literacy approach. OG+ uses explicit, direct, sequential, systematic, and multi-sensory instruction to successfully teach reading to all learners, including those with dyslexia.

Meredith implemented the Orton-Gillingham approach in her classroom during the 2022-23 school year and saw incredible results. In her CPS classroom, the median growth was 123% from the beginning to end of the year.

Meredith has been working as a private reading tutor for over a year now, during which time she has witnessed overwhelming growth and success in her students.

Meredith is very passionate about providing the OG+ approach and giving ALL students the tools to learn to read. She has seen first hand how important and successful Orton-Gillingham is, and she is energized to continue teaching students how to read.

Meredith recently continued her education and completed her training in the Wilson Reading System.
